We designed this custom door and casing specifically for a new, 18,000 sq. ft. neo-Prairie style home. The inset-style, two-panel walnut door, features a full-width hard maple mullion rail overlay with a walnut inlay stripe. The high-contrast maple overlay is designed to emphasize horizontal lines, a characteristic of Prairie style architecture. Additionally, the placement of the maple overlay highlights the upper portion of the door, echoeing another common design element of the style.

As part of our professional design service, we specified walnut doors for all important public spaces, and to contain costs, paint-grade doors — painted to mimic the design characteristics of the walnut doors — for private and secondary areas. As mentioned earlier, we designed the custom casing for this project too. Actually, we designed two casings, a base, two cornices, a wall band, and custom columns. We provided to our customer, in addition to this image, shaded renderings of all elements.
