The hand of a door is determined from the outside. The outside of an entrance door is the street side, the outside of a room door is the corridor side, the outside of a closet door is the room side, etc.
The key side is marked with an "x", and will be the outside unless otherwise specified. On pairs of doors the right hand leaf is always active unless otherwise specified.
